Location Status:
This is a two story apartment with a full basement currently occupied by two adults and four children.

Reported Activity:
Members of the family have reported seeing shadow figures in the master bedroom and staircase area of the home. Children in the house have reported seeing a woman in a blue dress in their bedroom, in the laundry room and in a hallway at the top of the staircase where the woman was observed sitting in a chair. Whispering has also been heard in the master bedroom, along with the feeling of being watched. Apparitions of two young boys have been reported by the children with one of the boys poking at one of the children as if trying to get her to play.

EMF (Electro Magnetic Field):

Standard baseline readings were taken throughout the residence and outlying areas with expected spikes near electrical appliances and above average levels found in the living room, dining room, laundry room, basement, upstairs hallway, the master bedroom, second bedroom and children’s bedroom.

While Investigators were doing EMF sweeps in the computer room, second bedroom and reading area on the second floor, frequent high EMF levels were measured from 2 to 5 milligauss for seconds at a time and then the levels would dissipate and disappear. A steady 3mg was measured with a K2 meter and a steady 5mg was measured with a cell censor meter at the same location in the reading area throughout the entire room and then disappeared. After a few minutes, the high levels would return. Investigators seemed to be “magnetized” in this area and could actually affect the cell censor gauge by placing a hand near it or moving a hand away.

In the second bedroom on the second floor, 5mg readings were measured with the cell censor meter over the entire bed and then disappeared completely.

In the master bedroom on the second floor, steady, high EMF levels were recorded over the bed and near the ceiling fans.

Constant high EMF levels were measured in the laundry room of approx 6 to 7mg, where an older model refrigerator was located. After the refrigerator was unplugged, the levels dropped to approximately 3mg near the back wall and remained constant.

Sweeps of the 1st floor revealed that 3mg EMF levels were present along the entire back wall of the residence where it is connected to another apartment.

Constant high EMF levels of approximately 6mg were measured in the basement coming from the city water line that ran through this property and connected into neighboring homes. These levels could be traced along all the secondary lines that ran from the main line and branched off running through the rest of the residence. Investigators seemed to be “magnetized” in this area as well and could affect the cell censor gauge. By Investigators placing a hand near the meter and pulling away quickly, the needle would follow in the direction of the hand movement and spike at the maximum level, then drop back down.

Investigator Feelings / Experiences:
Mark – None

Lauren – became very cold in the reading area on the second floor at the top of the stairs and had the feeling she was being watched.

Paulette - became very cold in the reading area on the second floor at the top of the stairs on two different occasions and felt a little dizzy in the dining room area of the residence.



Conclusion:

During the course of this investigation, Investigators found very high EMF levels in the majority of the home and in all the locations where activity has been reported. These high levels can be considered a possible cause of the “creepy feeling” some people get in certain areas. These high EMF levels remained constant for seconds and even minutes at a time and then would disappear. The source of these EMF’S could not be found. Constant high EMF levels were also measured on the first floor along almost the entire back wall of the residence. Constant high EMF levels were also measured along the main water line feeding the residence and additional lines running through the home, including the radiators heating the rooms. Adding to the high EMF’S is the significant amount of power cords running throughout the home powering a large amount of electrical equipment such as fans, space heaters, computers and other electronics, which each put out a fairly high field of their own. Most of the home’s electrical outlets appeared to be overloaded with power cords throwing off high EMF’S in these areas. In two locations of the residence, the basement and the “reading room” on the second floor, Investigators appeared to become “magnetized”, or electric conductors, and were able to affect the levels on the EMF meter by moving a hand closer or further away.

Taking into account the EMF levels in the home, which could be considered a classic “fear cage”, additional factors have to be looked at. A “fear cage” is a term for an area of very high electro-magnetic fields that can cause a person to have creepy feelings, the feeling that they are being watched, hallucinations, “crazy dreams”, headaches and other physical, as well as psychological, effects. With the consideration that much of the activity perceived may be a result of the “fear cage” phenomenon, there are other theories that indicate that prolonged, high EMF levels at a location can act as a conduit for paranormal activity supplying energy for spirits to manifest. Another theory would be that prolonged exposure to high EMF’S could act as a catalyst for psychic activity as well, which makes it very difficult to come to a definitive conclusion in the absence of any other evidence.


It would be the recommendation of ThePPA to reduce the amount of powered electrical devices in the residence that are currently there, along with reducing the large number of power cords running through the home, to help reduce the significantly high EMF levels and monitor the effects over a month or more to see if there is any reduction in reported activity. ThePPA also recommends to the family to keep a log of any reported activity to try and identify any patterns that may exist, such as a specific day or time, along with a follow up from ThePPA.
